Used Chrysler 300M

Question: How is reliability on a chrysler 300m?
I will be looking for a 4 door sedan soon and am considering the 300m. Is this car any better than the other chrysler products with their dubious quality? What's the record on the transmission? Were there bugs in the 99 that got worked out later?

Answer: In fact Chrysler 300 (the new ones) are very good, I have inspected several along with over 1200 other cars and the Chrysler 300 is one of the better cars to have, Be sure if you but a new car of any kind get it in writing you have free loan car when your in for any repair and you can negotiate the extended warranty, If they would negotiate the extended warranty start to leave and likely you will get what you want. And don't forget just in case you do have problems you have Lemon Law rights and you can contact the Krohn and Moss Lemon Law attorneys found on the Internet, they don't charge to take your case if you need help. And do yourself a favor stay away from Honda and Fords Trucks. Good Luck and God Bless,

Question: How do I disconnect the front dash speaker in my 2000 Chrysler 300m?
I have a 2000 Chrysler 300m that has a blown speaker in the front dash. I dont plan on replacing the speaker right now, so I want to just disconnect it so it doesn't crackle and I dont have to rip the front of my car apart. Does anyone know what wires go to this speaker so I can just cut them at the factory amp? Or does anyone know where I can get wiring diagrams for this for free? I

Answer: Start your search for a wiring diagram at www.chrysler.com they should have a diagram listed. If they don't then try a yahoo search for a wiring diagram specific for your vehicle. I had to find one for my old car and it took some time to locate it. Good Luck with your search.

Question: What is the coolant capacity for a 2000 Chrysler 300m?
I would like to know what kind and how much coolant goes into a 2000 chrysler 300m.

Answer: The entire system will take 8.9 liters or 9.4 qts. This vehicle has been factory filled with an Ethylene Glycol based engine coolant with long life corrosion inhibitors (called HOAT, for Hybrid Organic Additive Technology). When it becomes necessary to replace the coolant, Use a coolant like Mopar Antifreeze/Coolant, 5 year/100,000 mile formula (MS-9769), P/N 5011764AB or equivalent.

Question: Does anyone know any websites that I can find how to change a battery on a chrysler 300m?
How do I change the battery on a Chrysler 300m. I can't find any websites or tutorails to answer this question

Answer: I pitty you... I really do...

On that car, you have to jack up the car and take off the right front (passenger side) wheel, along with the plastic wheel well cover. You can remove the battery connections from under the hood but it's almost impossible to remove the battery from there.

Good luck, you'll probably need it.

Question: Please help me find a firewall hole in my 2002 chrysler 300m.?
Trying to install a power wire through the firewall. Anyone know where a grommet is? 2002 Chrysler 300m special.

Answer: Look behind the Master cylinder. Or find your battery cable and trace it back to the firewall. I wouldn't recommend drilling a hole. Not without being absolutly sure whats on the other side. You will also want to put in a rubber gromet. Over time a power wire on metel will get cut. Then you will have a short.

Need to know the steps to take in order to change out the fuel filter for a 2004 chrysler 300m please. I understand it is in the gas tank

Answer: you have to remove the rear sway bar bolts and slide the bar backward. remove the fuel tank strap bolts, filler neck hose and vent line, fuel lines and evap line from front of tank. drop tank and disconnect nvld and fuel pump connector. remove fuel pump lock ring and remove pump. the strainer is on the bottom of the pump and it will pop right off to replace. the actual filter/regulator that does the real filtering of the fuel is only available with the pump though.

I just bought a "tuneflex aux" for my ipod touch to connect to my car however I cant find where the imput jack is.

Answer: Depends on the stereo, dodge made 4 different stereo's for your vehicle and only one had an input jack, it was on the lower left of the radio, just a small 1/8" plug that said aux input.

Question: Whats wrong with my 2002 Chrysler 300M that it will not start up AT ALL?
No lights, or any type of response comes on when i try to start it. Before that, the check engine light came on with a whistling noise and the battery light.

Answer: DO THIS FIRST! Open the hood, and look to see if there's a belt still on the alternator pulley. Always look at the simple things first! If you don't know what it looks like, have a friend or family member that knows take a look.

NEXT, if the belt is still there, give it a tug to make sure it's tight. It should feel tight, if it's just hanging loose (or is missing), it either slipped off a pulley, or the belt tensioner or idler pulley may have broke. If this is the case, you will have to replace the belt and/or pulley or tensioner that is broken.

If the belt is there and feels tight, see if the battery will take a charge, or if you can jump start the vehicle. If it takes a charge or jump starts, then look at the alternator pulley to make sure it is turning with the belt. If it isn't turning and is squealing, that would explain the whistle noise before you shut the vehicle off, and it needs a new alternator (it might also start smoking from the belt rubbing against the pulley).

If the belt looks good, and the pulley is turning, let it run for a little bit (without the jumper cables). If it stays running, then take it to a local parts store like Advance, O'reilly, etc. that does a free diagnosis to see if they can tell you whether it is alternator or battery (most likely battery at this point). If it's a battery, they'll usually change it out for you if you buy one there.

If it dies out, then the alternator is the most likely culprit, and your best bet is to have it towed to your local trusted repair shop and have them check it out and replace it for you (unless you have a friend or family member that doesn't mind doing it for you).

DO NOT start it up and disconnect a battery cable to see if it keeps on running to check the alternator.
Nobody has suggested it yet, but just in case they do, it's bad advice on a computer controlled vehicle, even a small spark can fry a computer. While this will tell you if the alternator is bad, it can get quite costly if it shorts out a control module from the sparks caused by removing and re-attaching the cable.

I replaced the two gas filled lift supports and that didnt help any . And my trunk light does not work and the indicator light on the dash does not come no when the trunk is open .

Question: How much refrigerant does a Chrysler 300M hold?
The car had a vacuum pulled and charged two years ago. It is only blowing cool air not cold. Can I add 1 lb. of 134a to top it up?

Answer: i agree with the previous answer. there may be a sticker or you can just go to a parts store and they can tell you how much you need.

of course always use caution when recharging A/C.

however it is summer and vehicles are much hotter than other times of the year. at times ppl may think their air conditions is weaking/not blowing as cold but it can be attributed because it has to cool your vehicle down from a higher temp and so it seems not as cold.

if indeed you feel that its genuinely not cold you have a small leak and a can of freon will help but will eventually leak out.

i hate to say it but with air conditioning it is almost always better to go to a shop.

Question: How do you change the water pump on a 2001 Chrysler 300M?
Weap seal is starting to leak and getting some noise from the water pump. These cars are not as easy as a 1969 Camaro to change the water pump. Can you please give me some guidance? Thx in advance.

Answer: It's easier than you think. Pull front covers off under hood that cover radiator area. One is a plastic guard and under that is the metal support. Pull electric fan out by onbolting it from sides and 2 clips on top and eletrical connector. Now you have room to work. Loosen belts by losening bolt in center of pulley then loosen them by turning adjustment bolt. pull off belts then pull off these pullies with their brackets as one unit off front cover. Take off front covers by taking off 10mm bolts. Crank area has a triangle shaped plate and you can and just loosen bottom 10mm bolt and take off the two above. now slide cover up and you can see water pump. Set cams on their marks for reference, they have a dot on cams and a slot on housings. loosen timing belt tensioner on bottom of engine and evenly pull bolts to get slack on timing belt about one inch should be enough. now you can pull pump off and slide it out being carefull not to let belt slip on cams and lose timing. install the same way, then slowly turn each bolt up on hydrolic tensioner to ease tensioner center pin back to position. make sure timing marks are ok then put everthing back by reverse order. Or you can also pull radiator and bottom crank pulley with a 3 jaw puller and replace belt with new one. This involves pulling out tensioner also. tensioner can be collapsed in vice slowly then use suitable pin to go through cener pin and its case to keep it collapsed, set on new belt and pull pin after tensioner is installed to set belt tension. I hope this helps, Iv'e done this on a few 3.5 litres my self. GOOD LUCK.

Question: How to change a brake light bulb in a 1999 Chrysler 300M?
It's not in my manual and so far have not found it on the internet... can anyone help??!!

I have already pulled the snaps off to see the tailight but it seems like it is welding in our something

Question: PLEASE HELP! Is there anyway to to hook up my navigation on my 2003 Chrysler 300m?
I had a JVC dvd/navigation player installed and circuit city hooked everything up except for the navigation because they could not get under the car. But i called around and everyone is telling me the speed sense wire is very hard to get to and the only possible solution is to get some kind of module that comes out in a few weeks. Can anyone tell me where the VSS wire is or any other solution?

Answer: VEHICLE SPEED SIGNAL
The vehicle speed signal is calculated from the Output Speed Sensor. The PCM converts the OSS signal into a roughly 8000 pulse per mile vehicle speed signal (using pinion factor information programmed into its memory), and sends it to the PCM.

The PCM, in turn, sends the vehicle speed message across the PCI bus to the Instrument Cluster to display vehicle speed to the driver.

The Output Speed Sensor is a two-wire magnetic pickup device that generates an AC voltage signal as rotation occurs. It is threaded into the transaxle case (Fig. 387), sealed with an o-ring (Fig. 388), and is considered a primary input to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) .

OPERATION
The Output Speed Sensor provides information on how fast the output shaft is rotating. As the rear planetary carrier park pawl lugs pass by the sensor coil (Fig. 389), an AC voltage is generated and sent to the PCM. The PCM interprets this information as output shaft rpm.
The PCM compares the input and output speed signals to determine the following:

Transmission gear ratio
Speed ratio error detection
CVI calculation

The output sensor is the last sensor on the back left of the Transmission if you consider the bell housing the front and you are looking at the transmission from the tailshaft.
